Synoptic Situation:
At 4pm EST, Ex Tropical Cyclone Oswald was slow moving over the Central Highlands and Coalfields district, about 75km east northeast of Emerald and 250km west northwest of Gladstone. Ex Tropical Cyclone Oswald is expected to move south southeast this evening and through Sunday, contracting into New South Wales on Monday.

These conditions are expected to contract southwards into the Southeast Coast district and also extend west to the Great Dividing Range during Sunday, with destructive wind gusts in excess of 125 km/h possibly developing, which could cause significant damage or destruction to homes and property in localised areas.

There have been multiple reports of tornado activity through the northern Wide Bay this afternoon.

Currently, the heaviest rain is located on radar over the southern Capricornia district and through the Wide Bay and Burnett district. Some areas through the southern Capricornia have now recorded over 1000mm over the past 48 hours. Since 9am today, Walla has recorded 154mm, Bundaberg 104mm and Bungadoo 102mm.

The sea level is likely to rise above the normal tide and the exposed beaches will experience damaging waves and flooding of some low lying areas close to the shoreline.

Dangerous surf conditions, with significant beach erosion, are expected along the coast from Burnett Heads to the New South Wales border, particularly during Sunday and Monday. This includes Hervey Bay and northern parts of Moreton Bay.

ChipTorque Dyno Day - run and won by Nev Scott and his GC8

07 May : 21:28

Thanks to Chiptorque for running another successful dyno day. Just like last year Chiptorque put on a great day. This year we saw 17 cars on the rollers ranging from WRX's to Evo's to Landcruisers to a Leone.

Nev Scott managed to take the flag for most powerful car with 299.1kw. While rolling on the dyno he also managed to wrap up the loudest car with an impressive 128.6dB reading taken from within the dyno room.

As Donna’s Liberty was strapped down the betting on the power figure peaked. Nev again found himself looking good for the win after run one saw 70kw atw matching perfectly to Nev’s 3rd guess. As the Liberty started rolling again for its second run, eyes were watching the screen to see if it would pull more power.... and it did, finishing with 72.8 kw. Nev’s 4th guess happened to be 73kw and he happily walked away with every prize on the day relating to the dyno – most power, loudest car and guessing comp. Well done Nev.

This year saw another very tight contest in the Concours. First place went to an 09WRX with 35500kms, second prize to a 10 WRX with 3500 kms.

Both cars were presented in a beautiful condition, even better than you would expect when you pick up a new car from a dealer - These two leading cars were absolutely spotless.

They were separated by 0.5 points and the deciding factor had nothing to do with the presentation, but the respective ages and the amount of kilometres travelled. It does not get any closer between 2 perfectly presented cars.

The judges noted that this year everyone had put in extra effort to present their vehicles well (even the race cars) and the overall standard was excellent.

Thanks to Donna and Ross for cooking up a storm on the BBQ, Lachlan and the guys and girls from Chiptorque for hosting a great day and to all the members that showed up!

There are some photos from the day in the gallery and here is a small vid
