The Impreza WRX Club of Queensland can assist members to obtain substantial discounts on vehicle registration fees for older vehicles which are used on a restricted basis.
The Department of Main Roads offers the SIVs (Special Interest Vehicles) registration scheme, for vehicles older than 30 years.
Accordingly if you own a Subaru, such as a Brumby, SVX, Leone, early Impreza or Liberty built prior to 1994, you may be eligible for substantial discounts on your registration. We can also certify your non-Subaru vehicle.
You may have seen historic vehicles with "S" prefix plates driving around, although the scheme also allows you to opt to use any personalised plates you have obtained from PPQ.
This type of registration is suitable for collector vehicles which you might use just to: - keep running, taking for the occasional test drive within 30km of your garaging address / repair location; - bring along to events organised by an incorporated car club (eg any WRX Club of Queensland organised / sanctioned event); - display at car shows; or - trips to your mechanic to maintain the vehicle.
To obtain special interest registration, you just need to maintain your membership of the club and have us certify: (a) that you're a current member; (b) that the vehicles you wish to register were manufactured more than 30 years ago; and (c) if the vehicle is not currently registered, you'll need a standard RWC to establish that the vehicle is roadworthy.
