WRX Club Bowden

20 Oct : 17:20
 None    Misc

We have secured a date for a tour of the Bowden's collection this year. If you missed out last time and are still kicking yourself, then here is your chance. If you were there, then there is no need for a hard sell, you know what I am talking about.

Details are:

When - Sunday 29th of November - approximate start 9am (Buderim)
Cost - $40 pp payable on the day in cash (exact money required)

We will meet at Burpengary BP northbound on Bruce Hwy 8am departure. We will then cruise up the HWY together and meet Dan at the Ettamogah Pub, north bound on the Bruce Hwy at Glass House. Dan will meet us there at 8:50am for a 9am departure. You need to grab a coffee here/toilet stop as this will be the last before the tour starts. This is the last meeting point on the way, as Bowden's have requested that we convoy in to their place following Dan.

If anyone wants to organise any other meet ups North or West, please do so, but make sure you are at the Ettamogah Pub before the 8:50am meeting time. Again this is how Bowden's want it to be done. Also we will need confirmed numbers 5 days at the latest before the event. The event is not restricted to club members, so if you have responsible respectful friends or family who would like to come along please bring them along.

After the tour, we will have a BBQ on site at Bowden's, and likely there will be a bit of a demonstration of Bowden's own awesome car care products.

SKID PAN DAY 26 SEPTEMBER 2015

16 Oct : 06:24
 None    Social

Date: 26 September 2015
Where: Roadcraft Gympie

On Saturday the 26th of September a bunch of us club members headed to Roadcraft in Gympie to test the skidability of our beloved rexies (or not in some cases!) The weather was fantastic, it stayed nice and sunny all day.

There was a variety of skill levels from the complete novice (that'd be me Jess, I'd only driven our STI once before the day) to the more experienced. The aim of the day was fun and we certainly managed that.

We started off with some basic loops to get the water spread but before we knew it, we were having to dodge cones all over the place. We got through at least four different courses if not more by the end of the day. Each course brought a different type of challenge for all of us and at the end of the day yes there were times and results, but competitive or not it was FUN AS!

Thanks to all who organised the event and kept the day running smooth. Can't wait to attend future events just like this one with the club that's for sure.

Jessica and Nathan Schick.

Lakeside Ride

16 Oct : 06:03
 None    Motorsport

Time Attack racer and Club member Steve Faulks piloted the Bitten Motorsport STi to a blistering time of 54.84 on R Spec tyres.

This time put the Bitten Motorsport STi well on top in the Lakeside Holy Grail by just under a second.

Steve told WRX Club "We skipped 2 rounds mid morning as we had to get a replacement radiator cap, but the laps were consistently in the low 55’s on an old set of medium Yokohama 050 – which were much better than what we had a Maximum Attack. For the lap that I pushed, I actually probably over tried, the lap was not as smooth as I would have hoped. But the car handled everything that I asked and when I came over the line -0.3 popped up on the dash and I knew that we had set a new PB.”

September's Club Meeting held at Subaru Toowong

10 Sep : 11:43
 None    Misc

The September meeting saw the club venture back to the base of Mt Coot-tha after a great weekend at the Cootha Classic for the hospitality of City Subaru.

City Subaru is located at the Toowong round about and has a huge range of new and used cars, including the 2016 STi.

After making our way through a lot of Gusto’s Pizza’s and looking around the cars that were on show we sat down for the formalities to begin.

The committee reported that the Club continues to be in great shape with more than 160 financial members – more than we have had in years; and the books and bank balance continues to be strong.

Up coming events include Maximum Attack and the Club run skid pan day.

James Simpson, the Dealer Principle for City Subaru Group covering Toowong, Newstead and Kedron is Queensland’s largest Subaru dealer and has offered Club Members access to capped price servicing and also a great discount on all spares. Log onto the forum for more details.

Subaru also graciously had heaps of prizes on the night including a mobile Car Wash Kit valued at $49.95, a cooler bag and multiple Subaru flags which were happily taken home by Ant, Andrew, Blake and Jess
