Club member Nev Scott is currently at Phillip Island running on the Sports GT in the CMA STi.

Practice 1 has been run on Friday in the wet and Nev banked 8 solid laps with a fastest of 2:14.9566 which was good enough for P16 and just over 10 seconds off the pace.

We are all looking forward to seeing the speed of the Subaru tomorrow in the dry!

Good luck to Nev and the CMA team.

P.A.R.T. Why???? Because it's Christmas!

17 Nov : 05:59

That time of year is fast approaching and we have set the date and location for our 2015 Christmas Party. It will be held at Harrigan's Drift Inn on the 12th of December. We will have the area on the grass near the water for our Concourse/car display and awards presentation. If you wish to take part in the display or the Concourse competition or both, then you will need to be there by 10:30 am and will not be able to leave until around 2:30 as once we are inside, the gates will be closed and locked.

For those that would like to Cruise over with other members, we will meet at Yatala Pies at 9:30-9:50 am for a 10:00 am leave.

The Awards for the Motorsport Championship, Social Championship and Concourse will be presented on the day and the Concourse will be judged on the day as well, with the overall concourse winner taking away the perpetual Mark Van Beek award.

In addition to the usual awards for the three competitions, Bowden's Own have generously offered additional prize packs to the top three in each prospective competition.

The Concourse this year will be judged by all of us, the members of the club. When you sign in on the club register, collect your voting slip, take a look at the cars and deposit your choice in the voting box by 1:00 pm. We will count up the votes and will pick the winner.

On behalf of the rest of the committee, Thanks for your support, during what has been a difficult year for the Club and I hope to see you at this years Christmas Party.

Details about Harrigan's location can be found here

WRX Club brings home 3 in the top 10 at Noosa

“The Hill” is classed as one of the premier hill climb events in Australia and runs on Gyndier Drive which runs through the Tewantin State Forest. The track surface is 1.5km of undulating bitumen of varying age which makes for challenging and exciting variations in grip.

The WRX Club of Queensland was represented by three cars, the Bitten Motorsport STi and the AR Developments Evo which was dual entered. They lined up against 159 of the fastest hill climb cars in the country including cars like the Skelta of Ray Vandersee; which competed in many Targa Tasmania’s and also ran in the famous Pikes Peak in 2012.

The weather forecast for the weekend was not looking favourable in the lead up but after setting the cars up Friday afternoon there were no signs of the predicted rain. Saturday morning presented as a fine, but very humid day with the temperature managing to touch close to 35 degrees.

Saturday presented 4 runs to the guys and Steve from Bitten Motorsport went into the evening as the fastest tin top, with Mick and Corey in the AR Developments Evo just behind.

Sunday morning was wet and overcast, but the track soon dried out when the sun broke through to give 2 dry runs in the afternoon.

With a total of 8 runs Steve, Mick and Corey all finished strong with 58.41, 59.88 and 59.91 respectively. These results saw Steve taking home first in class, fastest tin top, fourth outright and the Glenn Ross Memorial Trophy for fastest AWD. Corey finished the weekend with third in class and seventh outright and closing out the Club’s account was Mick with fourth in class and eighth outright.

Great work by the guys for the strong representation and to all finish within the top ten of a class event.

Club members Stephen Faulks, Mick McMillan, Nev Scott and Corey Baker will be battling it out in a field of 158 cars (13 of them AWDs) at one of Australia’s premier hill climbs - the 2015 Noosa Hill Climb.

Noosa Car Club put on the event which is held at the picturesque Gyndier Drive in the middle of the Tewantin State Forest on the 7th and 8th November. The 1.5km asphalt road is only open to cars twice a year so it is a great spectacle!

Cars date back as far as a 1936 Ford running a 4L V8 and a 750cc Austin from the same year though to current production cars.

Club members will be fighting for class rights between WRX’s, Evo’s, Skylines, an AWD Sylva and the winner of the Cootha Classic Hill Climb, a beautiful replica Audi Quattro S1.

Racing starts at 8:30 on both Saturday and Sunday and Spectators are able to buy tickets at the gate for:

Adult - Day Pass $15
Adult - Weekend Pass $20
Children – Under 14yrs free

A great morning's racing at Kingston Park Raceway.

We had a some stand out results, as well as a couple of bumps and stacks down in the mid pack.

A HUGE congratulations to the overall winner of the day Craig Lawrence with 234 points.
Winner of race 1 and 2, 3rd in race 3 and 2nd in race 4. Craig also posted the fastest lap of the day.

Seriously close second place honours went to Dirk Mitchell on 232 points.
Dirk placed 3rd in race 1, 2nd in races 2 and 3, and then closing out the final race as the winner.
Also 2nd fasted lap of the day and a PB. Congratulation Dirk. A great effort.

Third place on 226 point went to Nathan Schick.
Nathan also stormed through the pack picking up many places in each race placing 4th, 3rd, 1st and 3rd.
A very confident drive and some really good, consistent times.

Thank you to everyone who turned out to support the club. Thanks to Andrew Ross for coming along and cooking the BBQ while we carved up the track.
When the photo's are available I will post them up.
