Subaru Toowong will be hosting the WRX Club of Queensland's March Meeting where Skid Control will be presenting.

Skid Control offers you the chance to test you and your car on a Skid Pan or Drift Track in Brisbane, Queensland. At Skid Control you learn to control a slide on a safe, low speed track that is full of fun. Or for those that want a bit more we have our high speed, dry drift track.

Our guest speaker this month is Dylan Cothill from Skid control. Dylan has over a decade of experience in grip and track driving and over 8 years experience in competition drifting. He's going to be talking to us about car control and is a perfect way to learn some new skills in preparation for our upcoming Skidpan day.

Gusto Pizza will be providing food

2016 Gatton Street Sprints

Gatton Street Sprints is the first sprint event of the calendar every year, and it is a great way to start your motorsport year off.

The weekend starts on Friday afternoon with check in and scrutineering, and racing starts Saturday and runs all the way through to Sunday afternoon.

Throughout the event there is not only sprint racing, but drift demos, and Saturday night sees one of the biggest burn out competitions in south east Queensland!

If you are worried about what the littlies will do; don’t! This year, the Downs Motorsport Club is pulling out all stops with a full food court and entertainment precinct which will have all the stalls required to keep your little rug rat busy.

The Club always has a solid number of entries, and 2016 will be no different.

If you are keen head over and put your entry in online. But if you are not a racer, come and have a look.

ONLY 20 DRIVERS get in and pay early to secure your spot
To all those who want to drive in the dirt this day is for you. The club has hired the Dirt circuit at IWMAC for a full day of fun. This event has been run previously so some of you have been to the event before. For those of you that haven't it is a great day to see if you are interested in driving on the dirt whilst not being an all competitive day.

There will be a Driver’s Disclaimer you must agree to and sign to participate.

The drivers & passengers must attend the drivers briefing, sign in and agree to the rules. Both drivers and passengers will be given a wrist band that will be supplied once all the above has been undertaken.

Gates will open at 7.30am with the track opening at 9am. A barbeque lunch and drinks (bottled water) are included for all attendees.
This is a private event which will result in a lot of fun track time for all involved with the focus on enjoyment.

The RULES-

* No door to door racing.

* Laps will be starting from a standing start on the starting pad you will be waved on to the track where you will complete 1 standing lap and 2 flying laps (this may be changed throughout the day depending on the general feeling - 3 laps is a good place to start as cars don't get too hot).

* When you are shown the chequered flag, your run has ended. This could be the end of your run, it could be a problem with your car or it could be a problem on the track. If you think you were shown the flag or are even not sure it was meant for you, GET OFF THE TRACK!!! THERE WILL BE ZERO TOLERANCE ON THIS, AND A SINGLE BREACH YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE.

* DANGEROUS DRIVING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE.

* There is no need to rush at the start of the day - I can guarantee that there will be times when there is only one car on the track (and sometimes none) so you will get
plenty of lap time.

Motorsport Championship winners

Congratulations to the 2015 Impreza WRX Club of Queensland Motorsport Championship winners.

The closest championships this club has seen in years, Michael McMillan and Jason Keen were grabbing as many points as they could, swapping 1st and 2nd position for the entire year. Stephen Faulks secured a from behind victory during the last scoring event for the season at Noosa Hill Climb when he took maximum points for his victory there.

Steve also has the honor of being the first to receive the perpetual Impreza WRX Club of QLD Glenn Ross Memorial Trophy for his hard work in earning the championship. Avid motorsport enthusiast, competitor and Club President Glenn Ross tragically passed earlier this year. He will always be watching from the great racing circuit in the sky, and I'm sure is proud of everyone keeping the motorsport passion alive in the club.

For club members who apparently can drive fast, the 3 members who were last to arrive to our trophy ceremony were, you guessed it, the podium winners. Let's not mention that the ceremony was held up by the arrival of the fastest driver there...

Well done to all drivers who competed this year, and we can be sure to see more heated battles as the 2016 season has already begun!
1st Place: Stephen Faulks
2nd Place: Jason Keen
3rd Place: Michael McMillan
