MCA Suspension host a very successful May tech meeting

May's monthly meeting and tech night was a huge success!

Josh, Luke, Murray and the rest of the team from MCA suspension lead a great discussion and included some great models with which they used to help visualize and clarify some ideas. They answered many MANY questions from our members and online.

Using a video camera and huge monitor, even audience members from the back row were able to see the damper internals they pulled apart to show how a damper works, what valves are, and how damper adjustment works.

Big thank you to the team at MCA suspension for having us, our committee members who manned our free sausage sizzle, and everyone who came to enjoy the meeting.

2016 Club Somerset Cruise

You couldn't ask for the weather to be any more perfect than it was. Absolutely gorgeous blue sunny day right the way through.

We started the day at Mt Coot-tha with everyone arriving fresh and loading with energy (drinks). From here we made a quick dash through some of the local suburbs and out into the D'Aguilar National Park for a scenic twisty drive to our morning tea stop at Mount Glorious.

After morning tea it was more scenic driving coming down the other side of the range and out to Somerset Dam and the Spit for our BBQ Lunch and socializing.

It was a really good day with some excellent driving, scenery, sunshine and more importantly; the people who attended. Really looking forward to organizing another club cruise in the short future.

ONLY 20 DRIVERS get in and pay early to secure your spot

To all those who want to drive in the dirt this day is for you. The club has hired the Dirt circuit at IWMAC for a full day of fun. This event has been run previously so some of you have been to the event before. For those of you that haven't it is a great day to see if you are interested in driving on the dirt whilst not being an all competitive day.

The drivers & passengers must attend the drivers briefing, sign in and agree to the rules. Both drivers and passengers will be given a wrist band that will be supplied once all the above has been undertaken.

Gates will open at 7.30am with the track opening at 9am. A barbeque lunch and drinks (bottled water) are included for all attendees.
This is a private event which will result in a lot of fun track time for all involved with the focus on enjoyment.

The RULES-

* No door to door racing.

* Laps will be starting from a standing start on the starting pad you will be waved on to the track where you will complete 1 standing lap and 2 flying laps (this may be changed throughout the day depending on the general feeling - 3 laps is a good place to start as cars don't get too hot).

* When you are shown the chequered flag, your run has ended. This could be the end of your run, it could be a problem with your car or it could be a problem on the track. If you think you were shown the flag or are even not sure it was meant for you, GET OFF THE TRACK!!! THERE WILL BE ZERO TOLERANCE ON THIS, AND A SINGLE BREACH YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE.

* There is no need to rush at the start of the day - I can guarantee that there will be times when there is only one car on the track (and sometimes none) so you will get
plenty of lap time.

2016 Gatton Street Sprints

Gatton Street Sprints is the first sprint event of the calendar every year, and it is a great way to start your motorsport year off.

The weekend starts on Friday afternoon with check in and scrutineering, and racing starts Saturday and runs all the way through to Sunday afternoon.

Throughout the event there is not only sprint racing, but drift demos, and Saturday night sees one of the biggest burn out competitions in south east Queensland!

If you are worried about what the littlies will do; don’t! This year, the Downs Motorsport Club is pulling out all stops with a full food court and entertainment precinct which will have all the stalls required to keep your little rug rat busy.

The Club always has a solid number of entries, and 2016 will be no different.

If you are keen head over and put your entry in online. But if you are not a racer, come and have a look.
